The role of accreditation in choosing the right b-school
Accredited
institutions must adhere to the best practices in the development of curriculum
and the upkeep of facilities, writes Himanshu Joshi
A significant time and cost commitment is necessary to
complete a management programme. There are about 6, 500 management institutes
in India that offer degrees and certifications in management, of which about 1,
200 are run by the government and the rest by commercial actors, according to
some recent reports. While some private institutions offer autonomous
postgraduate diploma in management (PGDM) programmes that have been authorised
by India's regulator of technical education, AICTE, others offer management
degree programmes that are associated with universities. The coveted PGDM
programme was offered by all IIMs and the best private B-schools in India prior
to the passage of the IIM Act of 2017.
Choosing the best B-school is a complex and difficult
undertaking for the aspirant applicants because of the huge range of PGDM
programme on offer. A number of factors play a role in choosing the best
business school, including the institution's programme offerings, the calibre
of the faculty as measured by their credentials, experience, and research
output, academic infrastructure, placement statistics, internationalisation,
tuition costs, and, most importantly, accreditation standards. The adoption of
innovative pedagogy, the use of high-calibre faculty research and knowledge
creation, the availability of academic resources, and the quality of graduates
who are ready for the workplace are all ensured by accreditation by reputable
national and international bodies.
Business
developments
The importance of accreditation in selecting the best
management college cannot be overstated. It offers data on the value of
education, credit transfer, and student employability. Choose an accredited
university to ensure that the college adheres to best practices in the development
of its curriculum and the upkeep of its facilities, enabling students to gain
knowledge in their area of specialisation. Furthermore, hiring people from
recognised universities is a top priority for employers.
Accreditation is a process that assesses a school's
academic programmes and confirms its dedication and integrity in providing its
pupils with cutting-edge education. To remain relevant as society moves closer
to accepting new technologies and capabilities, educational institutions must
match current business developments. As a result, accreditation is important.
Different
requirements
In order to uphold high educational standards,
accrediting bodies’ members voluntarily evaluate institutions of higher
education. The curriculum, teacher credentials, and numerous other student
services, such as a school’s capacity to create groups of positive classmates,
help international students, and aid in career development, are some of the
topics on which accreditors concentrate.
By judging the standing and depth of scholars' knowledge,
accreditation assists educational institutions in meeting their objectives and
gaining the respect of students. Additionally, it makes it easier for research
to be published and for new courses to be offered, and it helps the institution
recruit top teachers. It increases the likelihood of supporting research,
teaching, institutional growth, and information sharing.
Any technical course that has received AICTE approval has
quality assurance and complies with the necessary criteria. The recruiter will
present AICTE-approved courses as eligibility requirements for any technical
position. The National Board of Accreditation (NBA) accredited programmes
promote global mobility, improved institutional reputation, international
accreditation, create higher employability, and present better opportunities.
The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) provides a
different kind of certification that compares the vast array of courses given
by Indian universities to the courses, syllabus, standards, and credits studied
in foreign colleges abroad.
In a fast-paced world, the educational sector is becoming
more dynamic. Contrary to popular belief, a wide variety of educational
institutions take pride in their professionalism and high-quality services by
defining standards in management studies and receiving such accreditation.
Obtaining several accreditations is a difficult task. It
takes a lot of work, patience, and effective data management. Despite this,
choosing the best B-school heavily depends on accreditation.
